The 2019 Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Ried Achleiten comes from the highest parcels of the legendary Ried Achleiten in Weißenkirchen. The barren, silicate-rich soils and the light-colored Gföhl gneiss shape the distinctive character of this top site. After several selective harvesting passes, the grapes are gently pressed and, following fermentation in stainless steel, aged for five years on the fine lees in large wooden barrels. The late bottling in the spring of 2025 and the decision to forgo filtration lend the wine additional complexity and finesse. On the palate, it is juicy, concentrated, and rich in extract, with subtle exotic notes, fresh acidity, and a long, mineral-spiced finish.
