The 2023 Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Ried Kellerberg comes from the famous steep vineyard located directly behind the Baroque Kellerschlössel in Dürnstein. The vines are rooted in barren Gföhl gneiss with some overlying loess and benefit from the Pannonian climate. The grapes are strictly selected and hand-harvested in several passes. After several hours of skin contact, fermentation takes place, partly spontaneously, in stainless steel tanks and large wooden barrels, where the wine is then aged for several months. On the palate, it is profound, powerful, and texture-driven, with firm spice, smoky nuances, a fine acid structure, and a mineral finish.
