Selective hand harvest, gentle pressing, spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks and at least 1.5 years of aging on fine lees.

The Riesling Ried Kögl 2023 comes from Stein an der Donau in the Kremstal region and grows on stony terraced soils of loess, mica, amphibolite, and Gföhler gneiss. The up to 45-year-old vines are selectively hand-picked, yielding particularly concentrated grape material despite low yields. After gentle pressing, the wine is spontaneously fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged on its fine lees for at least eighteen months. On the palate, it presents as racy and tightly structured with smoky slate notes, flint, apricot, and citrus fruit. A demanding, enormously mineral Riesling with pronounced earthy tones and a powerful structure.
